Sisters in Service are lucky to have the support of Live Solar, a veteran-owned renewable energy company based in the Midlands.

As you will know, SiS is an idea that came about when Gemma and I were at the Veterans Mental Health Conference in 2023. We run SiS in our spare time in between our demanding clinical roles, Gemma is a Clinical Lead and I am a Forensic Psychiatry Higher Specialist Trainee working in a secure mental health hospital. We have also been funding the start up costs of this venture, things such as website hosting fees, domain names, google accounts etc. out of our own pocket. We were so grateful when Live Solar Ltd agreed to support us with these costs for the first year. We hope after that time, we will be able to raise some money through fundraising and grants to enable SiS to grow.

Live Solar work in the solar sector, focussing on renewable energy for homes and businesses. Live Solar is owned by directors Stuart and Greg who both have strong links to the military. Stuart is an ex-Army Engineering Officer whose father also served in the Royal Military Police, and Greg's sister and father were both in the British Army. Being part of the Armed Forces Community, they both understand the need for support for female veterans particularly those that now work in demanding healthcare roles. We are super grateful for the support they are giving us.
