Collaborative Working Done Right!

Sisters in Service met with the brilliant women behind the Female Veterans Alliance and the Female Veterans Transformation Programme to consider how we may be able to work together moving forward.

Last week we had the privilege of meeting with the Female Veterans Alliance (FVA) and the Female Veterans Transition Program (FVTP) - two organisations doing incredible work to support women who have served. The conversation was not only productive, but also inspiring, as it highlighted what is possible when we step out of silos and start collaborating to create real impact.

There is already so much good work happening in the female veterans space. But as we discussed, there is still more to do.

Too often, female veterans’ needs are under-recognised or absorbed into the broader category of “all veterans.” While all veterans absolutely matter, the unique challenges faced by women, from healthcare to transition, to identity and recognition, require tailored approaches and dedicated attention.

By working together, sharing expertise, and building partnerships like the one between FVA, FVTP, and ourselves, we can create a stronger, more unified voice for female veterans. Collaboration means pooling resources, amplifying impact, and ultimately making sure that women who have served are fully supported and celebrated.

We know the FVA are Queens when it comes to getting grants and they also arrange some fantastic events across the country for women veterans which we hope to be able to share with our members.

The FVTP are about to launch their tool kit for organisations to be able to better understand and support female veterans. This will be then taken 'on the road' with the team continuing to talk about the unique needs of women veterans and getting the message out their.

We are providing more support to help women transition well out of the military and continuing our support of those that work in health and social care.

Collaboratively, we hope to develop a 'directory of services' to highlight the good work that organisations are doing across the country for ex-servicewomen.

We’re excited about the possibilities ahead and committed to continuing this important work together.

Please get in touch if you think there is something we can do to make the lives of women veterans better!
