On 19 May 2025, the King’s Centre for Military Health Research (KCMHR) hosted the annual Veterans’ Mental Health Conference, now in its 9th year, bringing together a dynamic mix of researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and veterans for a day of insight, collaboration, and forward-thinking discussion.

Held in London, the conference focused on translating cutting-edge research into real-world impact. Sessions explored topics such as transition stress, moral injury, PTSD, and the long-term mental health needs of veterans.

Highlights included:

  • Keynote talks from leading UK and international experts in military mental health

  • Panel discussions addressing suicide prevention, stigma reduction, and the needs of underrepresented veteran groups

  • Veteran-led sessions, reinforcing the importance of co-production in research and service design

  • Cross-sector collaboration, with attendees from the NHS, MOD, academia, and the third sector

The event reinforced the importance of evidence-based policy and the need for coordinated support systems tailored to the evolving needs of the UK’s veteran community.

It was also a great opportunity to meet with colleagues and Sisters from across the UK. Check out our socials for a look into what we got up to.
